Match Report
Goals from Rico Gomes, Josiah Dass and Roger Degue saw FC United Reserves take their first point of the season in a 3-3 draw against Stockport County at a rain-lashed Broadhurst Park.

Stockport took the lead in the 7th minute as a clearance from Goalkeeper Daniel Havern was allowed to bounce in the home half and was swept in with ease.

Gomes headed home a cross from Sam Ogayemi at the far post to equalise in the 22nd minute, heading downwards with sufficient force for it to bounce up over Havern before going in.

Degue and Chris Hill came close as FC had most of the first half possession but it was Stockport who came closest to taking a half time lead. A crashing drive from Callum Scott from 25 yards came down off the bar allowing Adib Badri to collect the rebound.

FC United took the lead early in the second half as a powerful run from Dass was completed with a curling shot from the corner of the box into the far corner.

The earlier play had suggested that would allow the reds to see out the game but defensive uncertainty allowed Stockport to equalise just after the hour mark and take the lead with ten minutes to go. Firstly, a cross was allowed to drift across the six yard box with a header out falling to Akkeal Chambers who fired straight back. Secondly a poor back pass to the keeper was mis-controlled allowing the Stockport attacker to pounce.

Fortunately there was time for FC to find an equaliser, in the 87th minute Kisimba Kisimba played in Degue, who with more composure could have had a hat-trick, to slot past the keeper.

It is beginning to sound a little clichéd to suggest that the lads are unlucky to have only one point rather than the possible nine but as pointed out in the preview to the season. There is real potential within the side. The hard lesson of how easy it is to be punished for small errors and how difficult it can be to get beyond them against well organised opposition has to be learned quickly and not forgotten as progress is made.
