Match Report
Woodley Sports 0 - 0 FC United U18s (after extra time)
Woodley won 5-4 on penalties.

FC United youth travelled to Woodley to start the North West Youth Alliance Division One Cup today and after a closely fought encounter in which both defences were dominant and ensured that there were only half chances throughout open play.

With no score at ninety minutes and after a similarly blank period of extra time the game was decided on penalties. Woodley eventually triumphing 5-4 as the sequence entered sudden death.

Stephanos Ioannou was perhaps the likeliest scorer having found himself bearing down on goal two or three times, but was unable to find a way past Nathan Beckett in the Woodley goal. Woodley probably came closest to scoring when they hit the post in the second half, although FC did have the ball in the net. A close range finish from a free kick was disallowed for offside.

Then came the shoot out in which FC went first, Beckett saving the first effort. The next eight penalties were comprehensibly despatched until Woodley had their first chance to win it. A fierce drive into the middle of the goal was saved by Joe Grantham. An FC miss then followed and Woodley completed their victory.
