Hereford FC to visit Broadhurst Park for pre-season friendly with FC United

FC United is delighted to announce that we will be playing Hereford FC in a home pre-season friendly at Broadhurst Park on Saturday 23 July 2016, with a 3pm kick off.

Karl Marginson’s side visited Hereford before the start of last season for a friendly which marked the reopening of their Edgar Street ground and we are delighted to be playing a return match at Broadhurst Park.

Hereford FC have had a very successful season, winning the Midland Football League Premier Division (Step 5 of the pyramid) and reaching the final of the FA Vase at Wembley. They have yet to find out what league they will be playing next season.

The club’s average league gate last season was 2,836, making them far and away the best supported team in their division. Similar to FC United, they are very well supported on their travels and a decent contingent from Hereford is expected to make the trip to Manchester in July. Hereford FC’s season is not quite over as they face two cup finals over the next three weeks – the League Cup on 10 May and the aforementioned FA Vase Final at Wembley on 22 May.

Commenting on the friendly with FC United, Martin Watson, club secretary at Hereford FC, said: “We’re pleased to make the trip to Broadhurst Park after FC United came to Edgar Street for our first ever home match last July. Their supporters and board were very positive about the day and we are glad to be able to make the return visit after such a historic season for both clubs.???

FC United board member Rob Blow said: “Our friendly with Hereford FC was a great occasion and we were delighted and honoured to be the team they chose to help reopen their Edgar Street ground playing as a new team. We made some good friends in Hereford and are delighted to see that supporters are playing a key role in the development of the new club. We are very much looking forward to welcoming them to Broadhurst Park for what I am sure will be a great occasion, hopefully under sunny skies in July.???
