Having heard the board’s call to arms to our supporters to raise revenue for our football club, FC United manager Karl Marginson has rolled up his sleeves and joined the effort.

When BT Sports invited him to be a pitch side pundit for this Sunday’s televised FA Cup 2nd Round tie between Curzon Ashton and AFC Wimbledon, two clubs which we at FC United are no strangers to, Karl only had one idea about what to do with the £500 appearance fee they were offering.

He explains: "In the run up to Christmas time it would be a nice bonus, but there’s a bigger picture at the moment with our current plight. After seeing the rallying cries from board, having witnessed people pledging their own money, especially people still paying in and putting their money into the club on Saturday after the game was called off, I wanted to help and do my bit.???

Whilst the board, staff, volunteers and members are rallying together to help boost the club’s finances, this donation from Karl is a great gesture and highlights the fact that everyone at the club wants to do their bit to help the situation.

“That was the thinking behind it" continued Karl. "At a time when money’s not abundant and people have not got a lot but are still putting their hands in their pockets for our club, this was something that I wanted to support as well.???

FC United Board member Adrian Seddon said: "What makes this football club so special is its supporters. When we issued a statement to the supporters we wanted it to serve as a catalyst for them to take ownership again of the Development Fund.

"It was a wake-up call that although we now finally have a tremendous ground we can call home, the hard work and fund raising is far from finished. United we can achieve so much.

"We have been absolutely bowled over by the response from supporters and the effect this is having on the fundraising effort. The message is that every little bit helps, whether it is setting up a standing order, buying PFTG tickets or putting change in the Development Fund barrels as you enter the ground.

"Karl has been with us from day one and he is as passionate about FC United as all of us. A manager must lead a team by example and with this gesture Karl has shown just that. If we can all make our own gestures, big or small we will succeed."

You too can do your bit for our club. Attend home matches, spend some money in the ground, buy a Half-time draw ticket, match programme or merchandise. It’s easy really. If you feel you can do a little bit more then see how you can pay into our development fund here: http://www.fc-utd.co.uk/development-fund

From all at FC United of Manchester, thank you all so very much.
