Match Report
FC United, pooled in a group with Reddish North End and Heyside Ladies for this season’s Division 1 League Cup, kicked off their group with a comprehensive 11-0 victory over Reddish at a fog bound Abraham Moss Centre last Wednesday. Credit to both teams, the referee and hardy supporters for braving the extreme conditions

First half goals in the gloom included a hat trick from Kirsty Chambers keeping up her record of scoring in the last seven games and her third goal on the stroke of half time represented the team’s 300th in not quite three seasons. Amy Battel bursting from defence at every opportunity notched a brace and a stooping header from Adora Yau and the first of her hat-trick from Feiruz Abdullahi completed the first half tally. The second half was an increasingly bitty affair, not helped by the conditions, but the Reds managed a further four goals without reply courtesy of a brace each for strikers Feiruz Abdullahi and Shellby Wolstencroft.

In all, a comprehensive start to group stage of this year’s Division 1 League Cup and next up is Heyside on Wednesday 18 March (tonight) with a 7.30pm kick off at Abraham Moss. Get yourself to that football ground and cheer on the treble-chasing women’s team.
