FC United’s Youth team opened their Football Conference Youth Alliance league campaign with a 4-1 defeat away against FC Halifax Town Youth at Fleet Lane, Woodlesford, in West Yorkshire.

The visitors got off to the worst of starts, conceding a penalty on just 5 minutes, when FC United captain Adam Lockett was adjudged by the assistant referee to have denied a home forward a goal scoring opportunity. Lockett was shown a red card for his troubles, before Callum Bannister swept home the resulting spot kick at the second attempt.

After a fairly even remainder of the first half, just seconds before the half-time interval, FC Halifax Town went 2-0 up, when FC United’s Nathan Chorlton unluckily sliced a clearance past his own ’keeper.

On 55 minutes, FC United substitute Kamahl Fuller pulled one back, with a smartly taken header from a corner.

On 72 minutes, Jordan Lashington restored the home side’s two goal advantage, and with 4 minutes remaining, FC Halifax Town’s Cameron Miller added a fourth.
