Match Report
HOPWOOD HALL COLLEGE (FC UNITED) 6 LIVERPOOL FC FOUNDATION FOOTBALL COLLEGE MEN’S 1sts 3

FC United’s academy team recorded a hard-fought 6-3 home win against Liverpool FC Foundation Football College Men’s 1sts on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon in their third game of the season in the ECFA North West Men’s Category 2B league.

It was Darius Palma who opened the scoring for the home team from close range on 5 minutes before Aaron Saava equalised for Liverpool just a minute later.

On 20 minutes Will Shawcross made it 2-1 for Hopwood Hall College (FC United) before there was a lengthy delay to proceedings; this after home defender Ryan Botell sustained a serious-looking lower leg injury.

Shortly after the restart, Luke Paterson made it 2-2 for the visitors on 32 minutes, before Darius Palma restored the lead on 37 minutes for FC’s academy team with a shot that went in off the crossbar.

Pick of the first half-goals was arguably Nathan Chorlton’s long range effort that flew into the net on 41 minutes to make the half-time score 4-2.

Into the second half and half-time substitute Steeve Eddy made it 5-2 when he headed home from a corner on 49 minutes, before the visitors’ Tejan Brima pulled another goal back for Liverpool on 74 minutes.

But any hopes of a late comeback by the Liverpool side were dashed as Keenan Tuck latched on to the end of a Sam Hadfield-Summerbee pass to make the final score 6-3.
