FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 3 GATESHEAD YOUTH 2

FC United of Manchester Youth completed their home National League u19 Alliance league programme with this 3-2 home win against Gateshead Youth on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon after coming back from two goals down.

Gateshead had taken the lead on just 5 minutes when Sulaiman Sajjad couldn’t quite keep out a MATT HALLIDAY close range effort.

On 20 minutes, the visitors went 2-0 up, with MATT HALLIDAY on target again, this time a spectacular 30 yard effort that flew into the net and in off the far post.

On 22 minutes, the Young Reds pulled one back, when MASON GREGG’s heavily deflected shot gave visiting ’keeper Iain MacLeod little chance.

Just four minutes later, it was all square at two goals apiece. Papis Touray went on a mazy run down the left side before centering to KEENAN TUCK, whose crisply taken shot found the back of the net.

And the recovery was complete on 45 minutes when FC United of Manchester grabbed what proved to be the winner.

Mason Gregg’s low driven cross from the left was deflected to the far post where LEWIS UNWIN was on hand to nod the ball home.

There were chances at both ends in the second half, but no further goals, as FC United of Manchester Youth held on for their tenth league win of the 2016-2017 season.
