Reds back to winning ways with Abbey Hey victory
FC United got back to winning ways on Thursday evening with a 3-1 victory over Abbey Hey thanks to second half goals from Craig Lindfield, Robson Buckley and Lewis Lacy.

With back to back losses against Salford and Stalybridge already this week Margy’s men would have been looking for a positive result from Thursday’s game. But the first half was a tough encounter with few chances for either team which saw them go into the break without a goal.

The second half started much brighter with FC creating more and Lewis Lacy (who had been brought on up front) hitting the frame of the goal twice.

Craig Lindfield opened the scoring with a beautifully struck free kick from just outside the box before Rhys Webb levelled up for the home team taking advantage of a poor clearance that left Adriano Basso at the edge of his box.

Two quickfire goals sealed the victory though as substitutes Robson Buckley and Lewis Lacy wrapped things up and got the win for the visitors, who will no doubt be pleased to be picking up some momentum with just over two weeks left until the start of the season.

Next up for the Reds is a trip to FA Vase holders South Shields before the short journey to Ashton United next Tuesday.
