Red Roses overcome the Whites as FC’s Women demolish Leeds United
Women’s Premier Reserve League opponents, Leeds United Ladies, visited Broadhurst Park and after suffering a 14-0 defeat last pre season, the reds went one better firing 15 without reply past them on Sunday afternoon.

On an emotionally charged afternoon, FC stalwart Adora Yau, who has been with the side since the very first friendly on 8th July 2012 in which she had the honour of scoring our Women’s Team first ever goal, was handed the Captaincy for her last game with the club; scoring our 4th of the afternoon from the penalty spot.
Adora, 31, still has some football left in her and will be joining Cheshire League side Stockport County HNR, coached by former FC Manager, Jay Astley, for the coming campaign and all at FC United wish Adora all the very best as she leaves with our heartfelt thanks and gratitude.

United were six up at the break courtesy of Adora’s penalty, a Kirsty Chambers hatrick, bookended by the game’s opener from Rebecca Foster and the half’s sixth from Fran Sullivan.

United’s utter dominance continued after the break as Chambers added two more to her personal goal tally, Jess Battle grabbing a hatrick, Fran Sullivan getting her second following a sublime piece of ball juggling, Hanifa Douglas bagging a couple and Abbie Carrington getting on the score sheet meeting a Chambers corner at the back post.

A complete performance as Luke Podmore’s new look squad continues their impressive build up to the new season which kicks off on 3rd September. Sunday coming FC host Brighouse Town Ladies in what Podmore sees as potentially our toughest test of pre season so far. Why not get yourself down to our ground as the Women try and complete a hatrick of pre season victories over our friends from o’er t’hill.

Summary Report by Rob Fullen

FC Player of the game: Jess Battle, difficult to call this after such a complete team performance but Jess just nudges the accolade for her hatrick and bringing others into the game with strong hold up play. Kirsty Chambers opening goals of pre season, also merit a special mention particularly her second on 21 minutes half volleying over Amy Routledge in the Leeds goal after a superb pass forward from Abbie Carrington. Once again, a fond farewell and best wishes to Captain for the day, Adora Yau from all at FC United of Manchester.
