FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 4 MALTBY MAIN FC YOUTH 1
A second half comeback by the FC United of Manchester Youth team saw the Young Reds record a fine 4-1 victory against Maltby Main FC in their latest fixture in the National League u19 Alliance ’J’ Division on Wednesday afternoon.

Off target finishing by the home forward line had seen the Young Reds get off to something of a slow start and it was perhaps no surprise when the visitors took full advantage of a slip up at the back to open scoring through MARCUS BIRKELUND on 22 minutes.

A rousing half-time team talk, however, seemed to have paid quick dividends for FC United when Harry Kershaw set up SAMUEL IWEGBU to net the equaliser from ten yards out on 47 minutes.

The introduction of fresh legs up front then helped to further advance FC United’s resurgence and on 74 minutes, substitute Mike Patterson crossed from the right allowing fellow substitute MAX LEWENS to net comfortably.

Two minutes later it was 3-1 when MAX LEWENS scored a second goal, visiting ’keeper Harrison Crabtree being not quite able to prevent Lewens’ low shot from crossing the line.

And on 84 minutes, ELLIOT JORGE SIMOES INACIO scored what was undoubtedly the goal of the game. Picking up the ball inside his own half, the young forward then went on a mazy 60 yard run, leaving at least half the Maltby Main defence in his wake, before blasting the ball home and making sure of the final result.
