STOCKPORT COUNTY YOUTH 2 FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 1
A penalty save from a 92nd minute Kane Stockley spot kick meant that it was Stockport County Youth who edged through to the next round of the National League u19 Alliance League Cup competition following a 2-1 second round win against FC United of Manchester Youth at a soggy Norbreck Avenue, Cheadle on Wednesday afternoon.

After both sides had gone close in the opening stages, it was the Young Reds who had taken the lead on 25 minutes when ABDUL MUKTADIR latched on to a Jacobe Anderson pass before curling the ball into the Stockport County goal net from the edge of the area.

It might have been two-nil on 53 minutes, when Jacobe Anderson was unlucky to see an effort hit the top of an upright before rebounding back into play.

This and other missed opportunities were to prove crucial, when on 68 minutes, the home side drew level. SAJJAD EL HASSAN (who had been in action for the Stockport first team the night before) burst through the FC United of Manchester defence before blasting the ball past a helpless Tom Bamber.

And on 75 minutes, a resurgent Stockport took the lead. The ball fell nicely for substitute TAH-KI TUCKER who shot home from the tightest of angles.

There was still time for the last minute penalty. Max Lewens was tripped inside the box, and up stepped Kane Stockley. Unfortunately for the FC United of Manchester captain, the Stockport ’keeper guessed correctly, and was able to parry the shot, to send the home side through to the next round.
