FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH TEAM 1 OLDHAM ATHLETIC XI 4
FC United of Manchester Youth, took on an Oldham Athletic XI in a mid-season challenge fixture on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Friday afternoon, and competed well for the opening hour before eventually going down by four goals to one.

The Young Reds, whose league game at Chester on Wednesday had been postponed due to inclement weather, took the lead on 17 minutes. The visitors failed to deal effectively with centre-half Mason Breeze’s long through ball, and DILLON KIRKMAN was well-placed to nip in and poke the ball past the Oldham ’keeper.

On 27 minutes, Oldham drew level. The visitors sent a cross in from the right, and forward LIVESEY MASON was on hand to sweep the ball home at the far post.

On 63 minutes, the visitors went 2-1 up. This time the cross came in from the left, and forward SAM AMANKWAA was there to head home.

Worse was to follow... On 74 minutes, SAM AMANKWAA added his second, as he converted another cross from the left.

And TAYLOR JONES made sure of the final result when he added a fourth following a corner that wasn’t cleared properly on 85 minutes.

Dillon Kirkman almost snatched a late consolation for FC United in the final minute, and was somewhat unlucky to see his header, from a corner, strike the top of an upright, and not go in.
