FC United of Manchester’s Academy ’B’ team narrowly went down by the odd goal in seven in Wednesday morning’s home AoC Sport North West League Invitation (East) League fixture against Connell Sixth Form College Men’s 1sts on the Broadhurst Park 3G.

Connell Sixth Form College opened the scoring on 3 minutes when the visitors’ LUKE MORAN burst through the middle and finished comfortably.

On 18 minutes, it was 1-1 as FC United’s KEVIN ZOKOU steered home a Caleb Adenuga right wing cross.

Three minutes later, the Young Reds went in front. George Barbosa set up ZAID BAROUDI who rounded the away team ’keeper before stroking the ball into the empty net.

The lead, however, was short-lived. On 25 minutes, LUKE MORAN beat the home offside trap before hooking the ball past home ’keeper Matt Crosby.

That made the half-time score 2-2.

Three minutes into the second half, and the visitors edged in front as LUKE MORAN completed his hat-trick.

The Young Reds levelled again on 50 minutes as CALLUM COOPER prodded the ball home from a Dylan Blackledge corner and FC might have taken the lead on 71 minutes when the visiting ’keeper saved well from Kevin Zokou.

The next goal was to prove crucial, and it came on 88 minutes when ADAM MANNION’s deflected effort wrong-footed Matt Crosby for a late winner for Connell Sixth Form College, to make the final score 3-4 in their favour.

FC United of Manchester Academy ’B’ team are back in action on Friday 22nd March 2019 when they host Aquinas College’s ’B’ team in the semi-finals of the Greater Manchester Schools FA Under 18s County Cup. (Broadhurst Park 3G. KO 1.00 pm).
