FC United of Manchester Youth were a little unlucky to go down by the odd goal in five in Wednesday afternoon’s National League u19 Alliance Division ’H’ encounter against Rochdale AFC Youth at Heywood Sports Village (3G).

The Young Reds had taken an early lead on 17 minutes when Israel Aghahowa sent over a looping cross from the left for MASON BEARD to head home from the edge of the six yard box.

Rochdale AFC Youth drew level on 42 minutes when SEAN O’MARA blasted a long range shot past Mason Walker from outside of the penalty area.

On 63 minutes, the home side then took the lead, JACK SLOAN’s in-swinging corner somehow beating everyone at the near post.

FC United might have equalised just two minutes later when Dylan Blackledge’s free kick from the edge of the penalty area rebounded off the home crossbar and back into play.

The miss was to prove cruciual when, on 79 minutes, Rochdale AFC Youth went 3-1 up, substitute HARVEY COOK netting following a long goal kick, before, in the final minute of normal time, FC United of Manchester Youth halved the arrears when EMMANUEL UJAHCHUKU bundled the ball home from close range to make the final score 3-2.
