THE FOOTBALL COLLEGE, BURY, MEN's 2nds 3 FC UNITED of MANCHESTER ACADEMY 'A' TEAM 5
FC United of Manchester Academy ’A’ team opened their season 2019-2020 ECFA North West Men’s Regional Invitation League (East) league programme with a 5-3 "away" win against The Football College, Bury, 2nd team on Wednesday afternoon, in a match switched to Broadhurst Park 3G due to waterlogging at Bury’s normal home venue.

The Young Reds opened the scoring on just 8 minutes. CHARLIE BURKE’s in-swinging corner being diverted into the net via a Bury defender under pressure from FC’s Callum Cooper.

Alex Yates went close to making it 2-0 on 10 minutes with a low effort that hit an upright before FC United eventually went two goals up in the 37th minute.

Israel Aghahowa sent in a teasing curling cross which crashed down off the Bury crossbar leaving YUSUF QUDUS the easiest of chances to force the ball home from point blank range.

On 41 minutes, FC United went 3-0 up, Charlie Burke’s through ball set up FAVOUR BOLAJI who rounded the Bury ’keeper before steering the ball into the unguarded net.

Three goals up at half-time, FC United looked to have stepped off the gas somewhat going into the second half and it was no surprise when on 65 minutes, Bury pulled one back, TOMMY NEWALL netting from close range.

On 79 minutes, Bury then snatched a second, KEEGAN BAGLEY scoring from long distance.

At this stage, FC United badly needed another goal, and it came somewhat fortuitously just a minute later, on 80 minutes, EMMANUEL UJAHCHUKU’s shot looked to be going wide before taking a heavy deflection and finding the back of the net.

The Bury team still had another goal in them, however, DYLAN WRIGHT taking advantage of another defensive mix-up to make it 4-3 with a minute remaining, before CHARLIE BURKE made sure of the final result (5-3), with a low shot in time added on, having been set up by Josh Mbala.
