Match Report
FC United got back to winning ways with a 3-1 win at Stocksbridge Park Steels thanks to goals from Jerome Wright, Adam Jones and Greg Daniels.
Karl Marginson made a few changes from the game at Eastwood Town with Mike Norton returning to the attack and Kyle Jacobs also making a comeback after injury with Dean Stott moving into the midfield.
It looked for the first 30 minutes that the changes hadn’t made much difference as FC didn’t create anything of note. In fact neither did either side in a period where neither keeper was called into action.
In fact it was with the first chance on goal that FC took the lead on 40 minutes when a ball found Jerome Wright who lobbed on the onrushing Ben Scott in the Steels goal.
Three minutes after the restart and the lead was doubled when Stott fed Oliver Banks on the left hand side, his cross found the head of Jones who powered home.
It took fewer than 10 minutes for Stocksbridge to pull a goal back when substitute Chris Coy crossed for Nathan Joynes to poke the ball past Jon Worsnop in the FC goal. Happily for the Reds they stuck to their task and it was soon 3-1 as a lovely move between Norton and Greg Daniels found the latter in the box. He finished superbly and the lead was extended.
Deep into injury time it could easily have been 4 as Tom Greaves hit the post, Wright seeing the follow up go into the side netting.

Man of the Match - Dean Stott. Back into the midfield, Stott looked after the ball, brought a calmness into the side and allowed the players around him the freedom to play their game.
