World Cooperative Day

This coming Sunday 8th July is world cooperative day. An event "the spirit of cooperation " is being held at the Lowry, Salford Quays from 12 till 5. This event celebrates how people and communities locally, nationally and internationally benefit from working together in a cooperative way. FC United, as a member owned club have been invited to take part.

There will be a multitude of events on the day. Films will be showing all day during the event. Each of these films in their own way celebrate how co-operatives work. These include archive footage, a children’s film project and a showing of the acclaimed documentary "Black Gold"??, a strong story of cooperative coffee farm in Ethiopia and their struggle to establish a workers co-operative in the world of global coffee sales.

There’s theatre and music all day through the event. Music ranging from African drumming to jazz to opera. A young peoples art completion will be judged by Salford born artist Harold Riley.

This continues our relationship with United Co operative who have previously been sponsors of some of FC United’s community work amongst which were both People United Day and Youth United Day.

FC United will share a stall in one of the marquees with Supporters’ Direct. Jaqui Forster of Supporters Direct will be speaking in one of the days seminars about supporter owned clubs and their progress.
