Liquid in Ashton

OK be patient here, not a lot of time to check landlords (or landladies) acceptance of the FCUM test.................unlike Last Orders, Witton SC or even Royal Oak in Cheadle where it would have been a great day/night. However while qualititive checks have not been completed to the usual extent we have the Tameside Supporters Group to thank for some decent pre/post match guidance as to where to head for.

From Manchester City Centre
219, departs the corner of Newton Street and Piccadilly.
216, 236, 237 departs from outside Nobles amusement arcardes at Piccadilly.

All these buses stop at Katherine street, (ask the driver) when you get off walk back on yourself for 50 yards, turn right and keep walking in a straight line up Richmond Street, this will take you to the ground.

Or if you might fancy a beer..................Get the train to Guide Bridge!

Guide Bridge Station seems more handy than Ashton Station (15 mins quicker to walk) and If you get a bus (317 or 219 from Guide Bridge Station) ask the driver for Katherine Street bus stop a 5 minute ride.

When you get off the bus, there is a small pub called the RingoBells which is OK for a quiet pint if that’s what your after, or on your way up Richmond street turn left at Burlinton street walk straight to end of street for 50 yards where you will find "The Greyhound."

"The Greyhound" should be the place to go from what I can gather, at the time of writing an FC CURRY is in the offing between 6.00 and 7.00 together with all the usual beers you would expect. As the Tameside branch also has meetings planned here it seems a decent bet to be pro FCU.

There are a load of Pubs in Ashton Town centre and in the surrounding area and you can help yourselves for this one (let everyone know via message boards if you have a better idea), but considering the kick off time and work finishes it is usually better to get near the ground and sort a few beers within walking distance. The Greyhound is one of the closest to the Tameside Stadium. The vast Majority of ale houses are a fair walk from the ground so let’s make sure we get an on time kick off.

Still awaiting social Club details but will post when known

Enjoy the match and a pint or two - next issue Eccleshall (Stafford)
