Not The Presidents Cup

Before tonight’s friendly with Nantwich Town, we will be making a presentation to them of a trophy which we’re calling "Not The Presidents Cup". This is in recognition of the unfortunate circumstances which led to Nantwich being eliminated from the Unibond Presidents Cup competition last season, which we went on to win after being reinstated.

Nantwich have kindly suggested we could play future friendlies against them for this trophy, but it won’t be up for grabs tonight, because of course we intend to win the game tonight and it might have been too mean to take another trophy away from them so soon.

Please make every effort to get to the game tonight. It’s our last friendly before the serious business of the League begins and Nantwich have agreed to a slightly later kick off (8pm) and a reduction in their prices to encourage people to go to the game after the late rearrangements. If you need extra encouragement Witton Albion’s ground is a bit nearer to Manchester, so it’s less distance for most to travel than Nantwich and Witton have a very nice social club. Plus the Nantwich fans keep promising to outsing us, but surely we’re no going to let that happen tonight are we?
