Squad update - September 2008

Since the decision not to have a Reserve team this season we have a larger than average squad registered to play for us, so Assistant Manager, Phil Power, has been asked to take on the tough job of ensuring all our players are kept as involved as possible. With the season now a few weeks old, we caught up with Phil for an update on some players who haven’t featured much so far. Phil told us:

Micah Bleau has signed for AFC Emley the club formed after the original Emley FC moved grounds and changed their name to Wakefield and Emley FC, later becoming Wakefield, whom we played last season. Micah lives near there, so it will be easier travelling for him and he should get the opportunity to play more often. Phil said "Karl, myself and all the management team would like to thank Micah for all his efforts while he was here with us" and went on to explain that this hasn’t been arranged as an official loan, but as AFC Emley are in the Northern Counties East League (Div 1) we could continue to hold Micah’s UniBond registration.

Kyle Harrop has joined his former reserve colleagues at Bacup, where it’s hoped he will feature in more games to maintain his fitness.

James Brackenridge has been suffering from a lack of match fitness after having been out of the game for a while before this season. A couple of clubs have expressed an interest in signing him and Phil said "We’re hoping to help James find a club where he’ll get more regular games, which will help him regain full fitness."

Danny Allen has been away on holiday, but returned to training this week.

Finally an update on a player who hasn’t featured this season due to injury. Phil tells us Rob Nugent is still recovering from the operation he had during the close season and isn’t back in full training yet, so unfortunately he’s still some way off being fit to play.
