Power - show us your knee

Following several weeks away from frontline action at FC United due to cruciate ligament and cartilage damage, assistant player manager Phil Power faces an operation on Saturday morning.

Phil, who has been with the club since its since formation in 2005 and played in our first ever game at Leigh RMI, is expected to be in hospital for four days after the surgery and this will have to be followed by a couple of weeks on crutches.

Due to the nature of his injuries and operation, Phil will be unable to drive for six weeks, after which he is expected to begin physiotherapy, and will be unable to return to work for three to six months.

Phil is undoubtedly missing his work with the club. He said: "I can’t train at the moment which is very frustrating but as well as that it’s proving difficult to get to matches on a regular basis because I’m unable to drive."??

A specialist has advised Phil that it will be four months before he’s able to kick a ball again, after which it is hoped he’ll be back on the FC United scene. Our best wishes go to Phil for his operation on Saturday and a speedy return to action at the club.
