Margy's Marine dream

FC United travel to Merseyside to take on mid-table Marine on Saturday and manager Karl Marginson knows that another win for his in-form side could put them back into the play-off places.

After thrashing Ashton United 4-0 in midweek the Reds are confident that they can beat any team in the league at the moment and the teams chasing promotion know they can ill afford to drop points with the FC United playing the way they are.

Margy said: "That result has been coming. We should haved had more, we could have had more at North Ferriby last week and we should have beaten Hednesford at the weekend.

"It’s really encouraging. There’s a good feeling about the dressing room and the togetherness of the players is probably the best it has been since the club started.

"In the last couple of years we have built some real momentum towards the end of the season and I’m sure everyone will be looking at us and saying ’Here they come again’."??

United are expecting to make the trip without Adam Carden (bruised foot) and Jamie Baguley (thigh strain) who both picked up minor injuries in the last gasp draw at Hednesford but Margy knows he has a whole host of players at his disposal as the promotion push looks set to go down to the wire.

Marine were once looking good for a play-off place themselves but have slumped to 12th spot after a run of seven consecutive league defeats stretching back five weeks. The Crosby side were riding high when the Reds beat them in a cracking five goal thriller the Saturday before Christmas last year.

And Margy admits the same result would do nicely on Saturday. He said: "I’d be happy with that. Well, I’d probably be a bit annoyed if we conceded two goals again but the three points would be very welcome."
