FC v Marine FC ??? Wednesday 26th August 2009

Our first midweek home game of the season takes place this Wednesday (kick off 7.45pm) against Marine. It promises to be a lively encounter after the two exciting 3-2 wins for FC against the Merseysiders last season.

Many supporters will have seen that we have been allocated a total of seven midweek games at home this season which is a sharp increase on last season (and is before any re-arranged games or cup ties). It is well known that we tend to have lower crowds for evening games - for a variety of reasons - but unfortunately this increase in midweek games could have a serious detrimental effect on club revenue and our aim to break even at the end of the season.

We are currently discussing the situation with the League; however we would like to stress the importance of supporters attending midweek games if they are able to. There have been many exciting night games at Gigg Lane in our short existence, in particular the 5-5 draw against Cammell Laird last season and many have expressed the opinion that there is something special about a match under floodlights. Who knows what excitement the game against Marine will bring?

Although there is no CYCM on Wednesdays, the Main Stand Inn will be open for those who would like refreshment before the game and again at half time. Let’s pack into the Main Stand together, for our club.
