Lancaster City in FA Trophy
FC United will face Lancaster City in the second qualifying round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy after the Dolly Blues thrashed Chasetown 4-1 in Tuesday night’s first qualifying round replay.
The tie is scheduled to take place at the Giant Axe on Saturday 31st October but details will be confirmed on this website in due course.
United have been to Lancaster’s Giant Axe ground before on the opening day of the 2007/08 season and were unlucky to be defeated 2-1 as we made a slow start to the season which would end in play-off final glory.
The Dolly Blues also managed to avoid defeat in the return fixture at Gigg Lane with a late goal securing a 2-2 draw. So Karl Marginson’s side will be keen to get a victory against Lancaster at the third time of asking but it promises to be another entertaining encounter as City currently sit fourth in the UniBond Division One North.
