The State of the Pitch

A big thank you to the working party of over fifty people that turned up at Gigg Lane this morning to help clear the snow and ice from the forecourt, car parks and walkways around the ground.

Unfortunately the rising temperatures and the thawing snow has left the ground heavy with water which meant that we were unable to clear the snow from the pitch as planned.

With milder temperatures forecast we remain hopeful that the game can still go ahead if the ground can drain quickly enough.

It is likely that more volunteers will be required on Friday morning to remove the frost sheets from the pitch, a further announcement will be made here on Thursday afternoon giving time and details.

Once again a big thank you to all those who helped this morning, without your help the game would have stood no chance at all.
