FCUM Radio Proms second outing raises ??247

Tuesday the 29 June saw the second night of The FCUM Radio Summer Proms, a series of music nights organised by FCUM Radio to help raise funds for the Development Fund.

The first night of the proms back in May was a roaring success, with each band going down a storm whilst a tremendous 320 pounds was raised for The DF.

With the second night clashing with Spain v Portugal in the World Cup, we were worried we may have picked the wrong night to put a gig on.

But despite the World Cup sideshow, another excellent crowd turned up in force to Manchester’s Retro Bar to witness three more examples of remarkable unsigned Mancunian music, whilst at the same time raising yet more money for our club’s move to Newton Heath.

On the night itself, I am pleased to report a superb 247 pounds was raised for the Development Fund. This takes the grand total for FCUM Radio’s contribution to the DF this summer to 567 quid, which is a tremendous effort from all those who have donated so generously at this year’s FCUM Radio Summer Proms.

FCUM Radio would like to thank everyone who attended the latest Summer Prom, with special thanks going to the bands (details of them can be found below), who played and donated songs entirely for free, The Retro Bar for giving us the room and a sound engineer for free, thanks to the anonymous artist who donated paintings to sell on the night, thanks to Mike Malloy and Stuart James for DJing, and a HUGE thanks to everyone who gave money so kindly on the night.

The next night of The FCUM Radio Summer Proms will take on Wednesday 28 July at Manchester’s Retro Bar, with a line-up so marvellous that the night may well be made into a film one day, more news on that in the coming weeks.
