FA Cup and Trophy first round qualifying draws

FC United have been drawn at home against Woodley Sports or Bootle or Wigan Robin Park in the first round qualifying of The FA Cup with Budweiser whilst they face a trip to Frickley Athletic in the first round qualifying of The FA Carlsberg Trophy.

The FA Cup match is scheduled for Saturday 17 September whilst United’s Trophy journey will commence a month later on Saturday 22nd October.

United have met Woodley competitively four times before with honours even at one win each and two draws. Arguably the most memorable match between the two came in March 2008 when Stuart Rudd scored a late bicycle-kick to keep United’s promotion dream alive.

The Reds will only face Woodley if their Stockport neighbours can overcome the winners of Bootle versus Wigan Robin Park, who meet each other in the extra preliminary round. United drew 1-1 with Wigan Robin Park in a friendly last July and they have never come up against Bootle before.

Karl Marginson’s side have a good record against their Trophy opponents. The two sides have met six times over the last three years with United winning four and the other ending in nil-nil draws.

The fixtures are:
