Chorley Away Game September 10th 2011

We are aware that announcements made elsewhere regarding our match at Chorley have led to a great deal of speculation about our forthcoming fixture at Victory Park on September 10th and we would like to update supporters.

FC United always respects the fact that home games are to be organised by the home club but we also take very seriously our own duty of care to FC United supporters. Ahead of any away fixture we always contact the host club to discuss matters and understand the match arrangements.

We have tried to get as much information as we can ahead of the game but whilst we have spoken with Chorley FC, FC United officials have so far not been able to discuss directly with Lancashire police. We have been told that the kick off will be at 11:30am but we have not been given a satisfactory reason why such an early kick off time is being proposed. Ideally things would be finalised by now but we are finding it difficult to get a satisfactory explanation about the reasons for the early kick off time, what security measures will be in place and the need for the restrictive ticketing arrangements that have been announced.

Our caution over the arrangements for this game are heightened by the knowledge that last season Chester had cause to register a serious complaint for what they saw as inadequate arrangements after a number of Chester fans were injured.

A further announcement will be made as soon as we have more information.
