FC United of Manchester has received funding from Children in Need to run a pilot project which aimed to raise the aspirations of young people growing up in North Manchester.
The club therefore needs to recruit a part-time youth worker to run the project.
The work involves;
- Running evening sessions for two groups of around 12 young people in North Manchester.
- Working with the young people to plan activities which will allow the group to explore their aspirations.
- Work with each of the young people to put together a personal development plan.
- Facilitate two radio programmes made by the young people.
- Organise a celebration event for each group at the end of the project.
- Assist in the evaluation of the project.
It is hoped that the evaluation of the project will be positive enough that we will be able to obtain further funding for an expanded programme.
FC United can offer a salary of £23,750 (pro rata for 15 hours per week) for six months (January to June 2012) with the possibility of additional sessional work on other projects if this is mutually agreeable.
We are looking for somebody who has initiative and flair, enthusiasm for working with teenagers, experience of managing a project working to tight deadlines and budgets, who is able to work as part of a team and has experience of evaluating the impact of youth work.
