FC United ready for six-pointer at Hednesford

FC United are aiming to grab a play-off place for the first time since September with a win at promotion rivals Hednesford on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds head to Keys Park for the second-ever time knowing that a win would put them three points behind their third placed hosts with a game in hand and right in the mix for the promotion hunt.

Karl Marginson’s side will be in confident mood after beating the Pitmen 2-0 at Gigg Lane just a few weeks ago. Keys Park also holds no fear for the Reds as three years ago a last minute free-kick screamer from Simon Garner rescued a well-deserved point.

United expect to have a fully fit squad to take on their West Midlands opponents, apart from Darren Warrender who has left the club to get some match fitness.

Margy explained: "When Danny came back he was rusty having not played for a while and wanted to get some full games in. It’s a difficult time of the season and with the players being on form it’s difficult for him to get the right amount of time on the pitch."
