New and returning faces star for United in Rhyl

FC United drew 2-2 at Rhyl on Saturday afternoon in this pre-season’s ‘Euro Away’ with debutant Chris Amadi and Matthew Wolfenden getting the goals for the Reds.

With manager Karl Marginson wanting to try out some new recruits whilst giving as many players as possible a run-out, there were five new faces on show and nine substitutions made at half-time when the score was evenly poised 1-1.

As well as goal-scorer Amadi, players making their first appearance for the Reds included; Adam Fields, Josh Bardsley, Chris Curley, and Charlie Anderson – son of former Manchester United and England defender Viv.

Both Amadi and Anderson have spent time at Ashton United recently, with the latter also having been at former League Two club Macclesfield Town. Wingers Jerome Wright and Rhodri Giggs also made their returns to the FC United.

United had gone a goal down in the first half before Wright raced down the left wing to supply Amadi with a close-range tap-in to make it 1-1 against the team from the Cymru Alliance.

After a fairly even and entertaining game, Wolfenden looked like he had sealed a narrow victory for United with a nice lobbed finish in the second half but the Lilywhites snatched a last minute equaliser at their home ground of Belle Vue to ensure that honours were even.
