August FC United Board report

The latest FC United board meeting took place on Monday 19 August 2013. FC United board member Steve Pagnam reports.

The meeting kicked off with a stadium project group report, updating on where we are with progress. We’ve been saying it for a while but we really are not far away now and expect to make an announcement on when we expect to start the build very soon. Members of the board were mindful that FC members have been very patient during the wait for announcement and were appreciative of that as well as their ongoing support.

An agenda item on the club’s community work discussed the need for effective measurement and evaluation of the activities and initiatives we are engaged in so that we could better demonstrate the effect of this work and the benefits it brings to local communities.

The finance report looked at the latest management accounts for the last year, which are expected to be published soon.

On membership, we were delighted to hear that this season’s total has now passed the 2,000 mark. There has been a lot of work put in by volunteers to get us to this figure and thanks are due to all involved. We hope to push on from this now to recruit more members as the season progresses. The importance of membership was stressed as was the need to secure more season ticket holders in order to provide a good income base for the club and greater involvement of supporters in the club’s activities.

The board was also given a football report where we heard that we had recorded a surplus on the pre-season friendlies we had played over the summer.

Finally, the secretary’s report highlighted the various reports on the club’s operations in the areas of promotions, events, sponsorship, press and communications and the shop. Full details of all these reports can be found in the members’ area of our website.
