Four face fitness tests as FC host Frickley

Four face fitness tests as FC host Frickley FC United look to start climbing the Evo-Stik Premier Division as we welcome Frickley Athletic to Gigg Lane on Saturday afternoon whilst a number of plaers face late fitness tests.

A poor run of results and a couple of postponed fixtures have seen the Reds drop to 13th place in the table, albeit with three or four games in hand on many of the teams above us.

The disappointing league form seems to have been put behind us now though with a 6-2 win over Stocksbridge Park Steels followed by last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Rushall Olympic. Karl Marginson’s side will now look to continue our unbeaten league record against Frickley but will be conscious that previous results count for nothing.

Margy is waiting on the fitness updates on four players; captain Dean Stott and winger Matthew Walwyn are both nursing hamstring strains, forward Matthew Wolfenden has been ill, and recently signed centre-back Amjad Iqbal has a groin strain.

Margy added: “Chris Worsley had a little run out in training this week and is on his way back. Adam Jones is now in full training and just lacking match fitness, so we’ll see how he can progress on loan at Nantwich.???

Lee Neville and Michael Norton are both available before starting three and four match suspensions, respectively, for being set off in the FA Trophy against Witton Albion.

FC United of Manchester versus Frickley Athletic is this Saturday at the traditional and supporter friendly time of three o’clock. It’s pay on the gate as usual. Get yourself to that football ground.
