Potential title decider for FC women's team today

FC United’s women’s team are in action today in what, given their respective league positions, looks like a title-deciding clash against Middleton Athletic Ladies.

FC United currently top the league with Middleton in third but with three games in hand over FC. Today’s clash at Middleton is crucial for both sides in the battle to win promotion from the Greater Manchester Women’s Football League. If FC win then their vastly superior goal difference and points advantage should make their position unassailable at the top of the league hence today’s away fixture being dubbed a title decider.

FC women’s team manager Lee Sutton commented: "In our home fixture against Middleton Athletic Ladies back in October we lost 2-1 in what was a feisty and close game. We have been targeting the return fixture as a crucial one for some time and it’s clear from the two sides respective league positions that this is a game that could decide who gets promoted at the end of the campaign. We’ve been training hard and all the players are ready for the game and focused on the job in hand. We’re also looking forward to a good turn out from our supporters, who have been crucial in lifting the side in our games this season. Hopefully they will turn up in numbers today and help make the difference."

Given the potential importance of today’s game we hope that FC supporters will get along to Middleton to cheer on the women’s team to a crucial win that will go along way to achieving promotion in only their second season.
