Successful funding bid for Moston project

We are pleased to announce that we have successfully bid for and won £300,000 additional funding for the ground project.

The £300,000 grant funding comes from the Community Assets and Services Fund. The money will form an important part of the £5.5 million funding package which is financing the development of our new ground in Moston.

Construction of course is well underway and the grant funding announced today will mean that the club will be able to minimise its reliance on borrowing as part of the project.

Commenting on the award, FC United general manager Andy Walsh said: “This is fantastic news and a real vote of confidence, both in our project in Moston and in the club itself and our plans in the local area. The grant award will enable us to minimise our borrowings on the project and is a real boost to our efforts to raise even more funds from community shares and general fundraising. We’re also very proud to be receiving these funds alongside a range of other enterprising organisations and groups who like us are making a real difference to their local communities.???

The Community Assets and Services Fund is managed by the Social Investment Business Group, in partnership with Locality on behalf of the Department of Communities and Local Government. The 385 local organisations who have benefited from the Fund are each contributing to the growth of their local economy through projects such as rejuvenating failing pubs, libraries, fire stations, leisure facilities and cinemas, running vital health, addiction, housing, youth and waste management services.

Other projects include starting new community food-growing or energy enterprises that help make communities more resilient. Fund recipients have actively engaged local residents, councils, businesses and other community organisations to change how services are run as well as champion the interests of their local communities.
