FC United aim to settle unfinished business in Evo-Stik Premier

FC United manager Karl Marginson believes his squad has got everything it needs to finally win the Evo-Stik Premier Division this season as we aim to get the campaign underway with a victory at Barwell on Sunday.

As we enter our tenth season, FC United are bidding to turn last season’s runners up spot into the title and promotion to the Conference North.

The Reds, who have narrowly missed out in the play-offs for the last four years, are hoping to finally complete the task in hand and make the step up to the sixth tier of English football.

Margy has managed to retain all but three of his squad who missed out on the title to Chorley by one point. The only summer departures were Tom Davies to Fleetwood, Charlie Raglan to Chesterfield, and Adam Jones to Nantwich.

Margy believes the stability is testament to the team spirit and quality of the set up at club. He said: "The players have unfinished business. Just like everyone at the club, they want to go one better and win the league.

"I’m extremely pleased that we’ve kept the vast majority of the group together. The players appreciate what we are trying to do as a club, they want to be part of it and they are committed to the cause. I can’t ask for more than that."

United expect to go into Sunday’s curtain-raiser with a clean bill of health, other than striker Michael Norton who faces a fitness test after limping out of last Saturday’s friendly victory over Ossett Town.

The Reds won the final game of last season on our first visit to Barwell, we’ll be aiming for more of the same tomorrow. Get yourself to that football ground.
