Intrepid Swede Linus arrives at Broadhurst Park this Thursday

Swedish FC United fan Linus Lind, who has embarked upon a charity bike ride from Uppsala, Sweden to Manchester, UK, will complete his marathon pedal when he arrives at FC United’s new home at Broadhurst Park, this Thursday, 28 August at around 6pm. FC United supporters are encouraged to welcome him following his epic sponsored pedal.

Linus has done the ride to raise the profile of FC United and to raise money for "Doctors without borders (MSF)", a humanitarian-aid NGO with over 20,000 medical (and other) volunteers that work in war-torn regions and developing countries facing endemic diseases. His 2,500km pilgrimage from Upsalla all the way to Broadhurst Park is an amazing effort and he’s looking forward to having a tour of the ground when he arrives on Thursday. Linus lives in Uppsala, Sweden and attended his first FC United-match in 2009. Immediately after that game he called his father back home to say that "This is what real English football culture sounds like". Ever since then he has followed FC United and he is trying his best to spread the word of the ‘FC United way’ both in Sweden and internationally.

You can support Linus’s charity bike ride here and you can also read more about Linus at his unofficial international blog here.

We expect Linus to arrive at Broadhurst Park at around 6pm this Thursday. He will arrive together with FC fans Graham Voaden, who has ridden with him since London and Richard Simpson, who will join him on the last leg. We have also arranged with the Miners Community Arts Centre, close to the ground, to have a small get together to welcome Linus, starting about 8pm. All are welcome to attend.

Linus is also planning to do a ceremonial bike ride this coming Saturday from Broadhurst Park to Stalybridge for the Ramsbottom game and would like to invite FC Fans to join him and go to the match together. They will start at 12.30pm from Broadhurst Park in front of the main site entrance.
