Patterson and Nugent could be fit

Rory Patterson and Rob Nugent could both be named in the team to face Padiham away in the First Round Proper of the FA Vase on Saturday despite limping out of Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat to Salford City.

Manager Karl Marginson told the website: "They both came through training last night and did everything that was asked of them so I’ll decide on the day. If not we’ve got the players to step in, Liam (Coyne) can step in at the back and Adie (Orr) up front, we’ve got lots of options."

Margy explained that the team were desperate to get back out on the pitch after Tuesday’s last gasp defeat at The Willows. He said: "The mood in the squad is one of general disappointment within themselves.

"Straight after the game they were desperate to play football again, particularly against Salford, because they know they didn’t do themselves justice. They want to bounce back and that’s good to see."

Margy is confident that positives have been taken out of the first defeat of the season. He said: "We’ve learnt a lot of lessons from Tuesday night, we’ve got to be more dogged in our defence at times. If we’re not playing well, sometimes we’ve got to accept that and concentrate on making it difficult for the other team."

The only other teams news is that William Ahern is unlikely to feature as Margy looks to steady the midfield before the youngster starts his suspension after getting sent off against Curzon Ashton.
