FC United aim to bounce back at Matlock Town

FC United aim to bounce back at Matlock TownFC United look to bounce back from two straight defeats in a week as we travel to Matlock Town on Tuesday night.

The Reds were unfortunate to lose 2-1 to league leaders Skelmersdale last Tuesday at Bower Fold but a lacklustre performance on Saturday saw them slump to a 3-1 defeat at Ilkeston.

Manager Karl Marginson has signed attacking-midfielder Matthew Kay from Curzon Ashton ahead of Tuesday’s game and has suggested more signings could be on the way. He said: "We’re always looking to strengthen the squad to get the results needed."

Following the two recent defeats, the Reds have dropped down to ninth place in the Evo-Stik Premier Division. We are seven points ahead of our opponents, who are currently in 20th place.

The Gladiators have always provided FC United with tough tests over the years and the record between the two sides stands at five wins to the Reds, four draws and four defeats since 2008.

Three of Matlock’s four victories have come at Causeway Lane, so history suggests the Reds will need to be at their best tonight to come away with a result.

Matlock Town versus FC United of Manchester is this Tuesday at Causeway Lane. It’s pay on the get as usual. Get yourself to that football ground.
