Curzon Ashton game nets another record FC Development Fund collection

The season’s best attendance at FC United’s home game against Curzon Ashton on 6 April saw a fantastic £1,703 raised for the club’s Development Fund.

Our Pound for the Ground sellers sold a magnificent 1,110 tickets and after deducting £200 for the winner, £910 went into the DF. There were three winning tickets:

Ticket number 7232 won first prize and the £200 was claimed by Woolley, who shared it with his three mates. “We have been buying tickets since the start and this is our first win, and I’m not sure what time we will be home tonight," said our lucky winner.
Second prize of a Fudge Village hamper (who also supplied a free bag of fudge for all the children who travelled on the Rammy Rattler) went to 6746 and is as yet unclaimed.
Third prize was 6289 and wins a wholesome breakfast for two at Swampy’s emporium in Boggart Hole Clough, is also as yet unclaimed, so check those ticket numbers today!

There was another season record haul for the barrel collection, made up of the following:
£288 from foreign stuff swapped and the collection of pre-decimal coins handed in by John Hyde a few weeks ago, £64 from the catering team selling brews in the clubroom, £60 in notes in a plastic bag, a very large carrier bag of small change and a multitude of bags and loose coins which all totalled up to £793. We also had 50 euro note, another 70 euros, 25 US dollars and the usual assortment of foreign stuff to be sorted.

A massive thanks to all who tipped up and contributed to the record amount. If you have raised money for the DF, then please pass it on to Mike Sherrard and he will pop it in the barrels and get you a mention in dispatches.

Finally, a big thanks to everyone who rode the rails to Rammy on the Rattler on Saturday. It certainly was a great turnout for the club and we have had nothing but praise from all involved with the East Lancs Railway - noisy, boisterous, happy, good tempered and much more was the feedback. Also not forgetting everyone who helped before and during to put such a wonderful day together. On top of that we raised just over £3,000 , which will go towards our new home in Moston. If anyone didn’t get their beer, badge Easter egg or fudge then please ring Mike Platt on 07714 827019 and we will sort it.

So, all in all, the DF gained a grand total of £1,703 from the Curzon Ashton game, the highest we’ve raised so far this season. So, the running total for the Development Fund at home games so far this season now stands at £15,968.
