Benfica boosts Development Fund collection to new high

The Benfica game raised yet another seasonal high for the Development Fund as supporters celebrated the opening of our new ground in style on Friday 29 May 2015.

The Pound for the Ground draw offered a first prize of £400 and an expanded list of another six prizes for the Benfica match. 2,205 tickets were sold, so after we deducted the winner’s £400 we raised a magnificent £1,805 for the Development Fund. The winning numbers were as follows.

2290 - First prize of £400 (CLAIMED)
0743 - Fudge hamper
2530 - Breakfast for two (CLAIMED)
0268 - Wine beer and glasses
1314 - Bottle Honey Rum (CLAIMED)
0704 - Knitted FCUM teddy
2202 - Bottle of whisky (CLAIMED)

The winner of the first prize has put some of his winnings back into the club by buying his membership and season ticket for next season. Well done Roy! Very sensible. Please email or phone the office if you have any of the unclaimed tickets.

The Barrels made their very, very last appearance of the season and the total was a splendorous £458. Thanks to the board member who brought in a large bag of copper, one of our volunteers who handed in a small box with £34, the supporter who dropped in two £50 notes and to all others for their donations large and small.

Incidentally, the barrels made their first outing at Broadhurst Park for the test game against an Invitation XI of ex-players, and there was a grand total of £232 collected. Also there was a barrel collection at the recent general meeting which yielded £156, and was boosted by £57 from the usual members selling cakes on the day.

In total the Benfica match netted us £2,253 for the Development Fund, which is the highest total of the season. Thanks to everyone who contributed. Every penny collected goes into the DF, so let’s keep spreading the word to supporters old and new to keep on saving loose change and foreign coinage over the summer and bring it to the friendly game against Wrexham on 1 August.

When we add the Benfica collections to our running total for the season, the final total for the Development Fund at home games this season now stands at a fantastic £21,973.

Thank you once again to everyone responsible.
