Sheffield FC to host FC United in pre-season friendly

FC United will visit Sheffield FC on Tuesday 14 July 2015 for a pre-season friendly. The match will take place at the Coach and Horses Stadium in Dronfield and will kick off at 7.45pm.

Founded in 1857, Sheffield FC prides itself on being the first football club in the world. Throughout their history, Sheffield FC has always played football at amateur level. Proud of their status as true amateur club, they have developed a grass roots set up with more than 12 teams, from an under 14 girls’ team to over 35s and ex Sheffield Players. The club places a great importance on community and to preserve its heritage and football values, founded its own foundation in 2010. The club’s main focus is “to invest in different local and global projects to spread the true values of the game – Integrity, Respect and Community.???

Sheffield FC currently play in the Evo-Stik League First Division South and finished 15th last season. They are managed by Andy Kiwomya, who has had a wealth of experience in both the professional and amateur game as well as being a former England Youth International. Commenting on the fixture, FC United manager Karl Marginson said: “I’ve known Andy for many years and I’m delighted to be taking an FC United team to play in Sheffield. They are a great club with a sound set-up and I hope that supporters of both clubs turn out in numbers for the game. It should be a great evening at their ground, which is a lovely place to play and watch football.???

Sheffield FC play at the Coach and Horses Ground in Dronfield, just south of Sheffield. With a capacity of 2,089, the ground is the first permanent home of Sheffield FC and the club moved there in 2001 and opened the ground with an exhibition match against Manchester United. The ground is located on land to the rear of the Coach and Horses pub in Dronfield.

The ground has seating for 250 and a terrace stand including disabled facilities and a refreshment outlet. A club shop is on site, stocking a full range of merchandise and supporters and there is also the Coach and Horses pub, serving a range of locally brewed Thornbridge Ales, an ideal spot for a pre-match meal and a drink.

This fixture was previously announced in error by the Sheffield Star newspaper last week, but following an approach from Sheffield FC subsequent to that report appearing, the match was arranged and agreed between the two clubs.

The match will be pay on the gate and the admission prices are as follows: -

Adults - £8.
Concessions (children and OAPs) - £4
