Pound for the Ground draw returns for Wrexham match

With the new season rapidly approaching and the Wrexham match coming up this Saturday, the Pound for the Ground team are all prepared, ready, willing and able to sell the much loved half time draw tickets from 1pm on matchdays. This season there will be four prizes at every home game as follows: -

First prize - £200
Second prize - £50
Third prize - A hamper of fudge (Donated by The Fudge Factory in Whitworth)
Fourth prize - A breakfast for two (Donated by The Lakeside Café in Boggart Hole Clough)

Many thanks to Nick and Swampy for donating the fudge and the breakfasts.

We have also obtained shiny new bibs for the sellers, which again have been donated by Paddy at James Labels in Bacup. The tickets have also been printed by James Labels at a discounted price, so that almost all of every £1 ticket sold will go into the FC United Development Fund. There is still plenty of work to finish off our new ground so the money from the Pound for the Ground draw will be a very, very big help. Although we have a top team of sellers, most of whom have been with us from the early years, we are always looking to expand, so if you can spare an hour pre-match then get in touch at 07714 827019 and give it a go.

We have had various donations through the summer and at the recent members’ meeting, which have kick-started the barrel collection for this season. Thanks to Roy and Gale who sold some jewellery and gave £51, to friends of Mike Sherrard who sent a £100 cheque and to everyone else who put money in the shiny new red and black barrel at Broadhurst Park. The final total was £273 plus about 25 euros.

The barrels will be out and about at the Wrexham friendly and at every home game, so please root out all your small change, euros, any foreign notes and coins and any pre-decimal English money; we can exchange it all at a very good price for the Development Fund. Since we began all those years ago, we have raised £66,000 for the DF through the barrel collections.

Finally, here’s hoping for an enjoyable and maybe successful season in our new home, as we let the fine folk of Moston know that we do things differently at FC United, on and off the pitch.
