Reserves Lose To RIASA South

A Michael Brathwiate winner for RIASA South, deep into injury time saw FC United reserves lose their first league game of the season. Having recovered from being two down the reds lost 3-2.

The visitors started brightly and could have taken the lead in the fifth minute, Donovan Price cut in to the box and lifted the ball over an advancing Ben Jupp but Toby Wright cleared for a corner. That sparked some life into the home team as they began to attack but failed to test Joseph De Martino in the visitors goal. Indeed they could have taken the lead midway through the half but were thwarted by two good saves from Jupp.

They did take the lead on 38 minutes when Jupp parried a free kick from the edge of the box. Unfortunately Brathwaite was the first to react and had an easy task, slotting home the rebound. The visitors doubled their lead early in the second half when the home defence got in a tangle and Price firing in from the edge of the box.

The FC fight back began midway through the second half when Mike Norton rose at the far post to head home a cross. The equaliser came in the 86th minute from a corner, following a couple of flicks it reached Roger Degue at the far post.

It was hoped that if the remaining minutes were to see a winning goal that the momentum would be with the home side but with over three minutes of injury time played, Brathwaite was again able to pounce on a rebound.
