Margy strengthens squad ahead of Stockport County clash

Margy strengthens squad ahead of Stockport County clashSubject to receiving clearance from the league, FC United manager Karl Marginson will have two new signings available for selection for his side’s visit to Stockport County this Saturday.

Following the departure of Nia Bayunu, who has left the club, Chris Lynch’s dual registration move to Clitheroe to get more games and the recent injuries to Liam Brownhill and Jerome Wright, Margy has taken steps to strengthen the squad in defence by signing former Mossley midfielder/full back Scott Kay and ex-Chorley centre back Tom Smyth.

Karl said: “We have some cover in defence, with Adam Thurston who can do a job at left back, Craig Lindfield who did a great job at right back when Liam got injured and of course Dean Stott who can fill in in the back four, but I wanted to take the opportunity to strengthen further by signing Scott and Tom who will be valuable additions to the squad. I’ve always said that I’m on the lookout for players who will add to our ranks and these new signings will definitely do that for us.???

Margy also said that things were looking up on the injury front with Jerome Wright being given the all-clear to start driving again after breaking his arm and Liam Brownhill’s leg injury not being as bad as originally feared. “Liam still has a sore shin but he’s seeing the doctor to check it’s not infected so we should have positive news there very soon. Jerome’s arm is now strong enough for him to drive and we are just waiting to find out from the medics when he can start resuming training but hopefully that won’t be too long,??? said Karl.
