MATCH ARRANGEMENTS: FC United v Gainsborough TrinityOn Saturday 29th April, kick off 3pm, FC United welcome Gainsborough Trinity to Broadhurst Park in the National League North – Admission is pay on the gate: £9 Adults, £5 Conc, £2 u/18s – The Match is dedicated as our FC4M40 (+M9) day.

On Saturday 29th April, kick off 3pm, FC United welcome Gainsborough Trinity to Broadhurst Park in the National League North. Admission is pay on the gate: £9 Adults, £5 Conc, £2 u/18s. The match is dedicated as our FC4M40(+M9) Day.

Saturday sees our final league match of the season as we look to close the league season on 54 points with a win over Gainsborough Trinity. A win for FC and a defeat for Nuneaton, who travel to Alfreton, would see us finish in our highest ever league position of 12th in the National League North. Last season we finished in 13th position on 53 points.

Gainsborough Trinity are 4th from bottom on 36 points, one point above Worcester City who travel to League Champions Fylde on Saturday. If Gainsborough equal or better Worcester’s score, they will secure their place in the National League North for next season.

Following just one win in the previous 7 matches, FC United got back to winning ways with an impressive 4-1 win away to Nuneaton last Saturday with the FC fans in party mood. Hopefully we can expect more of the same this Saturday.

We are expecting a bumper crowd on Saturday with 1,700 tickets distributed to residents living in the local community. The season our league average attendance is 2,600, so Saturday’s match could be one of our highest ever attended league matches at Broadhurst Park, aiming to beat the crowd of 4,158 who turned up to watch the FC United v Salford City in January.

So please aim to get the ground early to ease congestion at the turnstiles.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP OUT ON SATURDAY

Due to the expected large attendance on Saturday we are looking for people to help out in key areas of our match operation, specifically in relation to Traffic Marshalling, Car Parking and the sale of Pound for the Ground Raffle Tickets.

If you are able to lend a hand, please ring the FC office 9am – 5pm Thursday and Friday on 0161 769 2005

We would also like to ask if volunteers can park on Lightbowne Road on Saturday as the ground car park is likely to be busy.

THE NOBBY STILES SHIELD PRESENTED AT 2.50PM ON THE PITCH

On Saturday courtesy of The Board, FC United welcome the Stiles family together with former United player Carlo Sartori and a number of Nobby Stiles’ old United friends ahead of the presentation of The Nobby Stiles Shield to our Academy Student of the Year.

The presentation will take place on the pitch at 2.50pm just as the teams have entered the pitch.
Unfortunately Nobby himself is not well enough to attend.

THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION COMMUNITY SHIELD FUND

As a result of FC United’s participation in the First Round Proper of last year’s Emirates FA Cup, we were asked to nominate 3 local charities to receive a share of our £2,000 that the FA Community Shield Fund distributed to us.

At half time during Saturday’s match a cheque will be presented to each of the 3 charitable organisations that FC United nominated to receive our club’s share of the fund. Representatives from Moston and District Sports and Youth Club (Moston Juniors), Talbot House Support Centre and Freedom From Torture will be present to receive their cheques.

MOSTON JUNIORS FC AT HALF-TIME

We are pleased to welcome back young players from Moston Juniors on the pitch at half time who will be playing a number of short matches.

Moston Juniors FC is a FA Charter Standard Community Club and sources most of its players from Moston, New Moston, Blackley and Harpurhey. They play their matches on the 3G pitches and Ronald Johnson Playing Fields at Broadhurst Park.

Whilst being one of the area’s largest and leading junior football clubs, Moston Juniors prides itself in providing opportunities for all of the local community to participate in football. They currently have 25 teams from under sevens to adults – this also include Mostonians, who act as their adult team and AFC Manchester Girls.

RUSSELL DELANEY TROPHY – FC UNITED PLAYER OF THE SEASON

As supporters enter the ground on Saturday they will be asked to cast their vote for FC United’s Player of the Season. The votes will be totted up and the Russell Delaney Trophy ‘FC United Player of the Season’ will be presented on the pitch at the end of the match.

The Player of the Season Trophy was named after Russell Delaney who was instrumental in the set-up of FC United in 2005 having worked tirelessly since the formulation of the idea for the club despite his failing health. Russell sadly passed away just a few months after FC United was formed.

The FCUth (Junior Members) Player of the Season Trophy will also be presented at the end of the match.

PLEASE KEEP OFF THE PITCH

We would like to remind supporters to please keep off the pitch at the end of the match on Saturday. As is customary, the FC United players plan to thank supporters by doing a lap around the pitch at the end of the game and can only do this if fans remain in the stands.

Also the Player of the Season Presentation on the pitch is also planned after the final whistle.

Groundsman Graham Byrne and his team have worked exceptionally hard this season to ensure the pitch is kept in perfect condition, so we need ensure the pitch is protected in preparation for next season.

Although it’s the final first team match of the season, there are two other matches planned in the coming weeks, with FC United’s Women Team playing Great Britain Police Ladies Team on Saturday 20th May, followed by a Charity match on 10th June.

Supporters from both clubs will have access to the Main Stand Function Room and Under the SMRE Bar.

After the turnstiles open, entry to the function room will be via turnstiles 1-6 or 9-12 and then through the seated area of the main stand.

BY CAR

From Central Manchester
From central Manchester head out of town on the A62 Oldham Road until the junction with Monsall Road. Turn left and pass Central Park Metrolink on your left and take the next right at the roundabout and follow the road ahead straight across another roundabout which takes you onto Lightbowne Road. Follow the road for around half a mile and you will see Broadhurst Park on your right hand side.

From the M60 – Clockwise
If travelling via the motorway network from the north and west, head for the M60 Manchester ring road. Leave the M60 at junction 20, then turn onto the A664. At the traffic signals turn left onto the A6104. Travel straight on and then at the Greengate roundabout take the 4th exit onto Lightbowne Road, the B6393. Carry straight on for around a half a mile and Broadhurst Park is on your left.

From the M60 - Anti-clockwise
If travelling via the motorway network from the south and east, head for the M60 Manchester ring road. Leave the M60 at junction 22, then straight on to Hollinwood Avenue, the A6104 . Travel straight on and then at the Greengate roundabout take the 1st exit onto Lightbowne Road, the B6393. Carry straight on for around a half a mile and Broadhurst Park is on your left.

CAR PARKING

We would urge supporters to use the car parks we have available for a charge of £5.00 at the ground and for £3.00 at the nearby St Matthews School, only 3 minutes’ walk from the ground. We have arranged with St Matthews to increase the area available to use for matchday parking and £3.00 for secure and monitored parking is very reasonable and helps us in our relationship with our Moston neighbours.

We are under a duty to ensure areas such as St Mary’s Road and the north of Nuthurst Road are not used by visitors to Broadhurst Park.

Supporters should be mindful that there is no parking on:
  • St Mary’s Road and the streets off St Mary’s Road;
  • Nuthurst Road;
  • the West side of Moston Lane and the streets off it.

  • We can always use more volunteers to act as traffic marshals and indeed for a number of matchday functions, so if you can help, send an email to John Davies johndavies@fc-utd.co.uk or telephone the office on 0161 769 2005 and leave a phone number for him to contact you to discuss.

    Enjoy the game.
