NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

NOTICE of Annual General Meeting

We are pleased to announce that the 2017 AGM of FC United of Manchester will take place on Sunday 19th November 2017 at Broadhurst Park, 310 Lightbowne Road, Moston M40 0FJ.

Registration will open at 11.00.am and the meeting will commence at 12.00 (noon). We aim to finish before 4.00pm.

The Annual General Meeting of the Club is the annual Members’ meeting at which the Board reports to the Members on the performance of the Club in the previous financial year, in this case the year ending 30th June 2017. It also offers Members the opportunity to stand for the Board, submit Resolutions & Votes for consideration, and to vote on each. FC United is established on one member, one vote, democratic principles.

Board Elections
Any members intending to stand for the Board are urged to read Rules 61 to 71 of the Club’s constitution available on the website. (IPS Rules)click here

At this AGM, four current Board Members, (Jim Brunt, Nathan Ellis-Scott, Sam Mullock, and Tim Worrall), are standing down having served their two-year tenure. Those who wish to stand for re-election are not yet known.
Board members Pete Cranmer and Peter Thwaites have already resigned from the board. This makes a total of six places available.
Any member wishing to stand as a candidate for the FC United Board should submit a written nomination to the Club Secretary who will confirm receipt.

The nomination should:
a) Be endorsed by not fewer than five other current Members who, in granting their endorsement, state that to the best of their knowledge the Member seeking election to the club board fulfils the criteria set out in the constitution, in particular Rule 66.
b) Clearly state that the Member wishes to stand for election to the club board at the forthcoming AGM.
c) Declare eligibility to be a member of the Club Board.
d) Be written in plain English and be clear to read.
e) Clearly state the name and membership number of the prospective candidate.
f) Be received no later than noon 45 days before the scheduled date of the AGM.
(The deadline is thus noon Thursday 5th October 2017)

All candidates may also submit a statement in support of their candidacy of no more than 400 words and a passport style photograph. If possible the statement and photograph should be supplied to the Club Secretary in a common digital format.

Statements and photographs not supplied by the deadline of noon Thursday 5th October 2017 may not be distributed with the AGM papers.

Resolutions and Members’ Votes.
Any members intending to submit Resolutions or Members’ Votes for consideration are strongly urged to read Rule 29 of the Club’s constitution available on the website. (IPS Rules).

A Member giving notice of a proposed Resolution/Members’ Vote must provide its form and content to the Club Secretary, preferably in a common digital format.
Justification for the proposal must also be submitted.
Proposed Resolutions/Members’ Votes must be signed by the proposer and by five other current adult Members.
The above must be received no later than noon 45 days before the scheduled date of the AGM.
(The deadline is thus noon Thursday 5th October 2017)

Submitting Board Nominations and Resolutions & Members’ Votes.
Notifications of Members standing for election to the Board, and proposals for Resolutions & Members’ Votes should be posted to the Club’s registered office at:

All notifications must arrive no later than noon Thursday 5th October 2017.

All Members will receive full formal notification of the AGM no later than 21 days before the meeting.
