Onwards and upwards: Commanding win at Spartans shows FC’s progress After a fantastic win at the weekend against Blyth Spartans we take a look at how the squad is starting to embody Neil Reynolds’ attacking style of football.

Achieving his first win as FC United manager, Reno is already making his mark at the club and is proving to be a successful appointment.

The team has quickly grasped his free flowing style of play in a short space of time, which can be seen from recent performances.

This was evident in Saturday’s game with the team performing with pace, flair and power and looked very dangerous in the attacking half.

Kurt Willoughby continued to make his presence felt after scoring his first goal since his return in the opening 20 minutes of the game.

Willoughby continued to be a crucial part in the attacking half, constantly making chances and continuing to be a threat to the opposition.

Debutant Tom Peers proved to be a new contender for the starting XI, extending the lead just one minute after Willoughby, making no mistakes in heading the ball home - a dream debut for the new recruit.

It’s also worth noting that Reynolds first three signings have all now scored…certainly not a bad record.

The decision to bring on Lewis Mansell to replace Peers was a wise one. He made up for his misses against Alfreton in the week by securing the win in the 89th minute, to the delight of the travelling supporters.

This crucial win moved us out of the relegation zone into 19th place, which is thoroughly deserved after the strength and sheer determination this side has shown in recent weeks.

This FC United side is showing promise and Reno has given supporters the belief that this team can go far.

We now look ahead to the journey down south where we take on Hereford in the Vanarama National league this Saturday (10th November).
