MATCH PREVIEW: FC United v Chester

MATCH PREVIEW: FC United v Chester A new year could bring new fortune at Broadhurst Park as we look to get back to winning ways in 2019, as we host high flying Chester FC in our first home game of the calendar year.

Manager Neil Reynolds has already looked to bolster the squad after the 4-0 defeat against Chorley by bringing in experienced right back Danny Morton from Curzon Ashton. The former Burnley and Blackburn youngster, hopes to add some defensive reinforcement for The Reds as we head into the latter stages of the campaign.

The 4-0 defeat against Chorley was a very disappointing result for us as for the first half of the game we were in with a shout of taking points away from the league leaders, but late goals and a red card costs us the three points. After that game, it leaves us three points adrift of Hereford, as we sit in the relegation zone.

As it pertains to our recent form, in the last four league games we have only picked up one win from those five, drawing once and losing the remaining three. Our home form, we will look to improve on in the calendar year having only picked up seven points from a possible 36 at Broadhurst this season.

Chester FC are enjoying a very good season and they will prove to be dangerous opposition for us. The Blues are currently fighting for the play-off positions, as they sit in 6th place after 24 games, having picked up 38 points from a possible 72 available.

In the last five games for The Blues, they have picked up five points from a possible 15, by winning once, drawing twice and losing the two remaining games. When it comes to their away form this season, they have picked up 11 points from a possible 36 with their last away win in the league coming against Boston United back in September.

The players to look out for in the Chester ranks is Anthony Dudley (on loan from Salford) who is Chester’s top scorer in the league with 8 goals, averaging a goal every 221 minutes. Akwasi Asante is another player to look out for, the former Birmingham City striker recently joined the club for a record fee from Tamworth having made a great impact on loan, scoring five goals in his first three games including a perfect hat-trick against Darlington.
